NSPRA/Ohio Achievement Awards

Achievement Awards recognize exemplary school public relations plans, practices, and projects. This year, contest categories have been expanded to better serve NSPRA/Ohio members.  The award categories are: writing, websites, video media, PR plans, print newsletters, special purpose publications, electronic publication photography, print publication photography, and e-newsletters.

The competition is open to organization members and non-members, as well as any school, school district or education-related organization in Ohio.

All entries are judged on their own merit according to how well they met criteria that exemplifies best practices by a panel of expert judges representing the fields of school public relations, graphic design, web design, photography, writing, editing, and video production. Starting in the 2009-10 year, NSPRA/Ohio will offer three levels of Achievement Awards: Best of the Best, Mark of Distinction, and Mark of Excellence.

Best of the Best awards are given to entries that receive the highest score in a category, above a 90 percent.

Mark of Distinction awards are given to entries that receive a score of 90 percent or higher.

Mark of Excellence awards are given to entries that receive scores between 80 and 89 percent.

All Achievement Award recipients are recognized during the annual NSPRA/Ohio Spring Conference.

NSPRA/Ohio members can also nominate other members who have dramatically advanced school public relations for the Crystal Award, the highest honor bestowed by NSPRA/Ohio to a member.  In addition, all members can nominate unofficial members of the school public relations team for the Friend of Education Award.

Please see below for more information on these two awards.

Crystal Award

The Crystal Award is the highest honor bestowed to a NSPRA/Ohio member. Established in 1987 to recognize individuals who have dramatically advanced the cause of school public relations, recipients are chosen by the NSPRA/Ohio Board of Directors, exluding any members who were nominated.   While the Board of Directors may choose not to name a recipient in any given year, award recipients are recognized during the annual NSPRA/Ohio Spring Conference.

Friend of Education Awards
School public relations is more than a one-person or one-department job. With that in mind, NSPRA/Ohio annually sponsors the Friend of Education Award to recognize those unofficial members of the school public relations team who have made significant contributions to school public relations efforts. All Friend of Education Award recipients are recognized during the annual NSPRA/Ohio Spring Conference.
