NSPRA BELIEVES COMMUNICATION IS VITAL TO CREATING BETTER SUPPORT FOR AND GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF OUR SCHOOLS.

Members of NSPRA/Ohio are public relations and communication professionals, superintendents, board members, community education directors, association directors, curriculum specialists, teachers, college professors, and students.

We provide our members an excellent opportunity to network with other educational public relations professionals throughout Ohio, as well as those individuals who have public relations as a secondary part of their job function.

Regional meetings, a statewide conference, and the availability of numerous communication resources offer members a chance to learn the latest techniques to strengthen education through effective communications.

In addition to being a professional organization, NSPRA/Ohio can help your organization in a staff development-consulting role. We can help you develop a communication plan, improve your publications, or provide individualized workshops that meet your special needs.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP IN NSPRA/OHIO

E-mail Updates
NSPRA/Ohio members will receive regular E-mail updates from the association regarding chapter news, news from the Ohio Department of Education, and other items of interest related to enhancing job performance and tracing the latest education trends. This service also permits an NSPRA/Ohio member to ask a question or seek feedback from other members on issues or topics they may be facing in their district.

Contests
NSPRA/Ohio sponsors three award competitions to help members strengthen technical skills. The Mark of Excellence competition is available to help members improve their school publications. Emphasis is placed on proper writing style and basic design techniques. We also sponsor a Mark of Excellence photography category to help members improve their photography skills. Finally, NSPRA/Ohio sponsors a contest judging comprehensive public relations plans.

Recognition Programs
Our Friend of Education Award recognizes those individuals and businesses that go the extra mile to improve their local schools. We honor award recipients at a special luncheon during our spring conference. Finally, one outstanding school public relations practitioner is honored each year with the NSPRA/Ohio Crystal Award.

Membership Directory
Each year NSPRA/Ohio issues a directory of its members, which includes a Talent Bank section. Through this talent bank, you can find association members who have expertise in areas in which you may need assistance. At that point, help is just a phone call away.

Membership Lapel Pin
Members of NSPRA/Ohio take pride in the fact that improving their communication skills is a priority. To help them show that pride, we give each of our new members an NSPRA/Ohio lapel pin. To our members, wearing this pin reflects the professionalism for which our organization stands.

Web Site
The NSPRA/Ohio Web site serves as a source of information for members. Plans are to expand the site and offer members with on-line resources, such as free fonts, clip art, case studies, sample publications and other valuable information items.

PR Peer Program
If you’re new to educational communications and public relations, you may feel more comfortable knowing you have someone to turn to for help. That’s where the NSPRA/Ohio PR Peer Program comes in. For those interested, we’ll pair you up with a veteran school communicator who will serve as your PR Peer for the year. They’re just a phone call away when you need advice or want to brainstorm ideas with a colleague.
