2004 Crystal Award
Almost 20 years ago, NSPRA/Ohio established the Crystal Award to recognize individuals who have dramatically advanced the cause of educational public relations. It is the highest honor our chapter bestows on a member. Judges review nominations considering these criteria:
- Significant accomplishments in the field of educational Public Relations
- Leadership positions in educational public relations
- State or national honors received
- Activities to advance educational public relations in the state or area served.
These are taken so seriously that in some years the award is not given at all.
However, this year the award was presented to a person whom many of us know. During the past 20 years, Scott Ebright has driven the importance of school public relations with dedicated professionalism. Always thinking beyond the boundaries of his own office, Scott has freely shared knowledge, talents and insights with anyone who asked, never hesitating nor expecting anything in return.
The list of service to NSPRA/Ohio ranges from blast e-mailing to members from multiple resources, coordinating e-mail requests for information from members, to instituting the OSBA Public Relations Academy. As a regional representative to NSPRA (National), he represented the Midwest in a loud, clear voice. He has won numerous awards for his publications, photography, and leadership. We hope he will cherish the Crystal Award as much as we treasure his influence on school Public Relations in Ohio.
I want to thank the chapter for honoring me with the Crystal Award. As I watched so many NSPRA members receive their Mark of Excellence Awards, I was reminded what talented and dedicated people we have in the organization.
To be singled out for recognition among such outstanding communicators is truly an honor.
I have been blessed to work with colleagues who are also friends. I am grateful they think enough of me to nominate and present me with this award. It really means a lot to me.
