UPDATED! Spring Conference Agenda

This year's "Embrace the Change" Conference, set for March 18 and 19 at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, is sure to be one of the finest ever assembled by NSPRA/Ohio.  A new breakout session featuring Cincinnati Public Schools' "I Am CPS" social media campaign has been added on Friday, replacing the planned "Generational Communications" breakout originally scheduled.  Also, a special panel has been assembled during the Thursday morning "Social Media Policy" workshop.  A fully updated conference schedule highlights the entire conference and a line-up that is sure to provide participants with an outstanding professional development opportunity.

A note from NSPRA National President Tim Hensley

I am looking forward to my visit with you at the NSPRA/Ohio Conference set for March 18 and 19 at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark.  It is a time of change across the country and I am certain that our experience together will help each of us to “embrace the change.” The value of active involvement in NSPRA/Ohio and NSPRA is that we make each other better PR professionals and practitioners than we could ever be in isolation.

OSU-Medical Center's first social media director to share experiences

On Friday (Day 2) of this year's NSPRA/Ohio Spring Conference, Ryan Squire will deliver a presentation on leading one of the largest research hospitals into the age of social media.  His unique perspective as a former news editor that led the charge for the use of new and emerging media as part of the NBC4 news team's reporting, as well as his new experiences in integrating social media into the medical industry will shed light on how to guide an organization into this new era of communication.

Industry experts to lead sessions on social media at annual conference

This year's "Embrace the Change" Spring Conference will be highlighted by the presence of two marketing and social media leaders from Oxiem Marketing Technology and Springboard Marketing, respectively.  John Fimiani, partner at both Oxiem and Springboard, and Billy Fischer, business development manager and social media strategist at Oxiem, will lead interactive sessions on both days of this year's conference on topics including social media policy, social media campaign planning and execution and website revampment for maximum impact.

Learn from School PR colleagues during best practices panel

Four NSPRA/Ohio members and school public relations colleagues will be part of a best practices panel during this year's conference on Thursday, March 18.  The panelists will share their experiences and case studies in the areas of school run television stations, levy campaign management, community engagement and e-communications.  After brief presentations, audience members will get the opportunity to engage the panelists in a Q&A session.

Four positions will be open on the NSPRA/Ohio Board of Directors: President-Elect, Treasurer, VP Professional Development, and VP Contests & Awards. If you would like to run for one of these positions, you must submit your name to Jenny Birtle, Immediate Past President, no later than Friday, March 26, 2010.

2010 Census Day is April 1

In 2000, only 67 percent of the households in the United States participated in the census, compared to 1970 when 78 percent participated. We must and can do better in 2010! A complete count in Ohio is critical so our state receives its fair share of federal funds. Please help us spread the message: Census 2010 – A complete count is in our hands.
